The Celtic Valor Story

Celtic Valor began like all things with a conversation between friends. Swapping stories,
cracking jokes and pondering that there must be something we can do to help others. Celtic Valor
officially began on Veteran’s Day November 11, 2014 by a small group of friends and alumni to
remember our fallen hero. His legacy of helping those who have sacrificed their time and
energy to defend our country inspired the named scholarship in honor of SGT. Charles B.
Kitowski III and other heroes at the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, Texas.

Through the efforts of a small committee and fellow alumni, the scholarship has raised funds to
assist with the continuing education of veterans. The scholarship is the only privately-funded
campus organization to assist veterans who are not 100% funded by the G.I. Bill, enrolled in a
Houston private institution. Since 2015 the scholarship committee of Celtic Valor has awarded
over $20,000 to qualified student Veterans.

Beginning in fall of 2016 Celtic Valor became classified as a public charity obtaining an IRS
section 501(c)(3) exemption status. This qualification has now allowed us to pursue public and
private grants, as well as continue in our efforts to raise funds for veteran’s education via
private donations and event fundraisers. As our mission states “Opportunity Arises from
Sacrifice”, so please support the mission and consider making a tax-deductible donation.

Thank you and may God bless our veterans
